Topic: Steady and Transient Photothermal Properties of Au Nanostructures

Key words: plasmonic nanostructures, photothermal effect

Abstract: The photothermal effect in plasmonic nanostructures has demonstrated its superiority in broad applications from nanophysics to nanobiology and nanoelectronics. This talk will focus on the photothermal properties of Au nanostructures under different illumination conditions based on the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method and HEAT solver. I will first discuss the steady photothermal property of nanoparticles/AAO structure for solar light harvesting. Next, I will talk about the transient photothermal property of Au nanowires under normal and oblique incidence conditions, which is essential for bringing the resolution of photothermal imaging down below the diffraction limit. Our study based on numerical simulations may be applicable for controlling the photothermal process at the nanoscale for various applications.

Topic: Large-Area Single Crystalline Gallium Nitride Epitaxy with 2D Materials as Buffer Layer and Release Layer

Abstract: The remote epitaxy of GaN via 2D materials has attracted much attention due to its potential of easy mechanical exfoliation, and the exfoliated layers can be transferred onto foreign substrates according to the application needs, which is beneficial to improve the performance of GaN-based devices. In this seminar, recent developments and new strategies of III-V compound semiconductors remote epitaxy will be discussed. And our work about GaN epitaxy on different substrates with will also be shown.
